FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Which office is right for me, and can we meet online?
I have two offices: Menlo Park, California, for Silicon Valley and the Bay Area, and Beaverton, Oregon, for the Portland area. Choose the one closest to you, or the one that fits your travel. Online sessions are available for couples who are in California or Oregon at the time of the session. I meet couples in person at both offices and online.
What kind of couples do you work with?
Couples with demanding lives, including executives, founders, entrepreneurs, physicians and high achieving professionals, as well as couples facing change, hurt, betrayal or distance, and cross cultural couples. Many arrive thinking they are too busy, too far apart or too different. What they share is that the relationship matters to them.
What is it like to work with you?
Warm, direct and practical. I am certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and draw on somatic therapy and on the research behind the Gottman Method, so we look at what happens in your body and between the two of you as you talk, not only at what you say. You leave with clear guidance you can use at home, and you are never handed a script or left to sort it out alone.
Is your approach based on research?
Yes. I am certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a method with decades of research behind it, and I draw on the research behind the Gottman Method and on somatic therapy, which brings in what we understand about the body and stress. I use them to give you a clear, practical process rather than general advice. I cannot promise a result, but you will always know what we are doing and why.
We are not sure we want to stay together. Can therapy still help?
Yes. Some couples come to repair, and some come to understand what is really happening before they decide. I will not push you toward staying or leaving. My job is to help you both see clearly and speak honestly.
